Cross Country Season Review

The New Hope Cross Country team has once again found success at the District Championship at Lehigh University. For the fourth consecutive year, the boys’ team won their division and competed at the State Championship in Hershey on November 7th, ending the season with a 12th place finish. The girls’ team managed to finish third in their division race even without their first runner, Julia Mycek, who was out due to a stress fracture. Following a hard defeat for the boys team by Jenkintown at the League Championship, the week leading up to districts was nerve-wracking for the runners and coaches. However, New Hope once more proved its consistency with racing.
Overall, the season has been incredibly successful for New Hope, with some of the fastest times posted in awhile by runners. Hopefully even greater success can come in the upcoming track season based on these performances. The majority of the team consists of juniors, so the 2016 season is already shaping up to be very strong for New Hope. Hopefully the boys’ team will continue to find success next year and it’s no doubt that with a full lineup and no injuries, the girls’ team will be one of the top contenders for the district title next year.
